ABOUT PHOTOBIOMODULATION

Photobiomodulation (PBM) is a non-invasive light therapy that uses red light and near-infrared light to relieve pain, recharge energy, recover from exercise, and regenerate to fight aging. Red and near-infrared light penetrate the cell targeting the source of pain instead of masking pain.
We chose NovoTHOR after dedicating hundreds of hours to research. We read articles, spoke to experts, traveled the country and even flew to England to make sure that we brought only the best PBM machine to Plymouth. There are other companies who have red light machines, but we only wanted the best. NovoTHOR is made by THOR Photomedicine. They are the leading experts in the field and are considered a subject matter expert by researchers, hospitals, and clinicians, having presented on the topic to governmental bodies such as the US Congress and the United Nations.
When it comes to the effectiveness of a session, the dosage matters! NovoTHOR does in just 12 minutes what other machines might not do in an hour. Light therapy with red light may not be well known yet but light therapy is not a new modality. Most people know that light influences the human body. Sunlight helps with Vitamin D synthesis, UV light causes a reaction in melanin, changing the color of our skin, and blue light is used to treat neonatal jaundice.
There is a staggering amount of evidence for the efficacy of PBM and new research is being published regularly. Evidence for PBM has been published in leading journals, such as The Lancet and is recommended by the World Health Organization for the treatment of neck pain.
What to Expect
We offer a 20 minute time slot to our clients which includes a 12 minute treatment and allows the client time to undress and redress comfortably and enjoy their session without feeling rushed. This is the same treatment time as used by Olympic athletes.
It is recommended that you be fully undressed during a treatment, or minimally dressed (underwear, swimsuit, etc). Treatment is enhanced by exposing as much skin to the light therapy as possible.
To prevent damage to the acrylic plastic surfaces, all rings, watches, bracelet’s and the like should be removed before the treatment session.
You don’t have to use NovoTHOR as a standalone treatment. We encourage clinics integrate NovoTHOR as a part of a larger treatment plan, especially before a treatment like a massage or chiropractic adjustment.
Other sensations that may be experienced in response to NovoTHOR therapy are nausea or dizziness. If your reactions persist or you experience severe treatment reactions, NovoTHOR treatment should be discontinued.
Some patients may be taking drugs or natural remedies known to cause photosensitivity reactions. If you have photosensitivity, consult with your doctor before using NovoTHOR.
Do not use NovoTHOR if you are pregnant.
Do not use the NovoTHOR if you have active cancer.
